Why does hair loss occur?
Hair loss can happen due to multiple reasons. Sometimes, intense stress in your personal or professional life can lead to hormonal imbalances in the body, which result in hair loss. Chemicals from shampoos and cosmetics can make hair brittle and lead to hair fall. Pollution too can exacerbate your hair loss condition if you don’t have a hair care routine in place.
In select cases, hair fall can be the result of a medical condition like alopecia, where the immune system attacks the hair follicles and results in hair fall. Male pattern baldness is another prevalent condition, which affects more than 50% of men in the United States.
Chemotherapy and radiation therapy can also cause extensive hair loss in patients.
Traditional treatments to regain beautiful hair
Traditionally, hair loss is treated by providing topical drugs in the form of oils and serums which can be applied to bald spots. In extremely severe cases, a hair transplant or a hair graft may be performed for instantaneous results.
But in situations where surgery is not an option and where drugs are ineffective, other treatment techniques are used for hair restoration. At Bella Rose Medical Aesthetics, we specialize in a new-age treatment called PRP for hair loss.
What is PRP?
Plasma and platelets are essential components found in human blood. They are critical to the health and wellbeing of an individual. From blood clotting to nutrient transportation to tissue repair, plasma and platelets help the human body in numerous ways.
The Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a state-of-the-art medical treatment that uses the patient’s platelets to treat medical conditions. In PRP for hair loss, your platelets are harvested and injected into areas of the scalp that require treatment. The platelets will then rejuvenate your hair follicles and stimulate hair growth.
The PRP treatment starts with the consultation. Our specialists at Bella Rose Medical Aesthetics will take a look at your hair & scalp, and they will determine the areas where the platelets need to be injected.
On the scheduled treatment day, we will draw a small amount of blood from your arm and insert the vial into a centrifuge machine. In approximately 10 minutes, this machine will separate the Red Blood Cells and the White Blood Cells from the plasma.
Next, the platelet-rich plasma is separated and collected in a different vial. This is then injected into the pre-selected areas of your scalp, where you’ve experienced extensive hair loss.
Once in your scalp, the platelet-rich plasma will activate the inactive hair follicles and lengthen the time the hair follicles spend in the active growth stage. Over a period of a few weeks, you will notice a gradual reduction in hair fall and an increase in hair growth.
